MAPS

Here is a link to maps showing the wind farms existing and proposed in Dumfries & Galloway as at 2022 –

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1cwmbST6BbI-9MWjVNPBDWF1vy_TJFOuD?usp=sharing.

The first map shows the region as a whole. The others show greater detail divided between all the various areas within Dumfries & Galloway.

Updating the maps has proved problematic because there is no publicly available comprehensive source of information. However, individual wind farm proposals usually include a map showing other wind farms which are operational, under construction or proposed, for example the proposal for Dalmacallan wind farm – See the map.

Currently, in Dumfries and Galloway alone, there are

  • 576 turbines in operation
  • 101 turbines under construction
  • Many more in planning and others potentially in scoping

The production capacity of those in operation or under construction, let alone those in planning or even consented, is currently 1,972 MW, enough to supply over 1,000,000 homes, as against 69,869 homes predicted for the area in 2028, i.e. a ratio in excess of 14:1.
